Shelli has been a professional artist for 20+ years. She has no formal training in art except a couple of Art History and Art Studio classes and a few local art workshops. Two- and Three Dimensional art that conveys emotion through the use of color and texture is her jam. You’ll find influences of Willem de Kooning, Romare Bearden, Giacometti, and of course, Picasso in her work. She formally opened her professional art business, StressArt Studio, in 2010.
A lot of paintings begin with a feeling. Emotions are an important ingredient in these abstract mixed media pieces. Colors and textures also substitute or symbolize emotions.
Most paintings are on canvas and anywhere between 6"x6" to 36"x36". They are created with high density acrylic paints, graphite, charcoal, pastels, conte crayon, and any other media that creates interesting textures.
Mixed media paintings are created by layering paint, graphite, charcoal, conte, shipping materials, sand medium, gloss medium and much more. During the painting process, the original concept is kept in mind.
